FAQs

Bouma Bros Garage Doors

  • How do I program my remote control?

To program your remote control, first locate the learn button on your garage door opener and press it until the LED illuminates. Within 30 seconds, press and hold the button on your remote control until you see the opener's light blink or hear it click. Finally, test the remote to ensure the door responds correctly.
  • What measurements should I look at before purchasing a new garage door?

When considering a new garage door, it's important to measure the existing frame opening rather than the current door. Take measurements of the height and width at the right side, center, and left side of the opening. Use the largest of these three measurements for each dimension to ensure a proper fit.
  • How much headroom is required above a residential garage door?

For residential garage doors with torsion-spring hardware, we suggest a clearance of 12 inches (305 mm). If you have between 4 ¾ inches (121 mm) and 12 inches (304 mm) available, a dual-track system designed for low headroom is recommended. When installing an electric door opener, add 2 inches (51 mm) to standard lift movements, except for low-headroom systems which don't require this additional space.
